doily's internet pickins: flights of fancy

LIGHT BOXES

The authorial debut of Shane Jones, Light Boxes tells the tale of a small town stuck in an endless February.  Caused by an ethereal oppressor punishing flight of all kinds -- including kites and hot air balloons, the town's winter-time blues deepen as a select few pluck up the courage to fight back.  Light Boxes will be available May 25, just in time to truly appreciate spring.

TO HAVE & TO HOLD

Vinyl, which bears a striking resemblance to UFOs -- hence its relevance to the loose aerial theme, is the topic of forthcoming "musicmentary" To Have & To Hold.  Directed by Jony Lyle, the film covers everything from manufacturing processes to interviews with vinyl aficionados like Questlove and Christian Marclay.  Check out an interview with the director and follow the Facebook page for updates.

SPACE HYMNS SPRING MIX

From Naturalismo comes the Space Hymns Spring Mix, a compilation of 13 throwback tunes reminiscent of breezy contemporary bands like Washed Out and Toro Y Moi.  Download it here and let your cosmonaut dreams take flight!
