Space 15 Twenty

Last year, a fire took down a long standing Thai bistro on La Brea and Fountain in Los Angeles. Now, Otus Thai Kitchen and Coffee has taken over this site! Along with Intelligentsia coffee, this spot serves thai coffee, and a variety of other specialty house-drinks. On the menu, Mrs. Dang’s crispy rice for lunch. Khao Man Gai, and other Thai specialties for dinner. And on the weekends, a special brunch menu is available! We had the french toast on our first visit, and it was bomb. A cool patio in the back, loads of natural light, this place quickly became one of our favorites.

In the heart of Koreatown in Los Angeles, there is a little spot known as Han Bat Sul Lan Tang. Located next to a dog grooming salon on fifth and Western, this easy to miss hole-in-the wall serves the best bone broth in the city. At this spot the menu is simple. You can choose from five choices of meat, and if you are feeling adventurous, you can get all of them in one bowl. When we sat down we were greeted with a bowl of homemade kimchi, which was wildly cut with kitchen scissors at our table. A side of radish kimchi known as “ggakddugi”, chopped green onions, and steamed rice were served to accompany the broth as well. A touch of coarse table salt and heaps of green onions later and we transcended into heaven. If you have been exhausted or feeling the chills, this spot is specially for you. Bone broth has been credited by foodies as a miracle broth. Next time you are feeling for an authentic taste of bone-broth, stop by an ATM and then head down to Han Bat Sul Lan Tang in Koreatown.

ust a few steps from The Ace Hotel in DTLA, is So-Cal's Verve Coffee Roasters. Exposed concrete, myrtle-wood, and midcentury lamps adorn this coffee haven. Potted plants, succulents, and South American wood, cover it’s outside patio. Pressed juice, smoothies, fermented drinks and goodies from Cafe Gratitude are served here as well; it’s a collaborative space. Along with coffee, Verve curated products and magazines are also sold here. A coffee experience (and photo op) to be had in Downtown, Los Angeles.

not-so-secret SPACE | ABBOT KINNEY

Abbot Kinney in Venice is a great place to go get lost. It is block after block of street art, eclectic shopping, and good ole' California vibes. You can find a good pair of cut-off shorts on a front yard, air plants sold from a renovated shipping container, and a psychic eager to tell you about the future. When the temperature rises you can cool off with a watermelon-raspberry lemonade, and hide inside a tiny house filled with Vinyl records. On Abbot Kinney, California is truly alive.

A night in West Hollywood is not complete without dinner at Night + Market. Night Market is a Thai street food restaurant located on the Sunset Strip. Inside, a chill atmosphere, neon beer signs and random vinyl on the walls. A house favorite is the crispy-rice.

Before you go, cool down their ice-cream sandwich. It's grilled bread stuffed with coconut sticky rice and a scoop of ice cream. Amazing!
